The President of the German Society for Toxicology, Professor Dr. Heidi Foth, visits TSE Systems European /
Asian Headquarters requirements
On Monday the 15th June, the President of the German Society of Toxicology, Professor Dr. Heidi Foth, visited the TSE
European / Asian Headquarters in Bad Homburg, Germany.
During the day Prof. Foth was introduced to TSE Systems, one of the largest manufacturers of sophisticated life
science research instrumentation in the world. While joining a tour of the company guided by the General Manager
Hans-Peter Engler, Prof. Foth took the chance to become familiar with the wide range of TSE products and systems.
During her presentation concerning Nanotechnology and Nanotoxicology in front of an international audience of TSE
board members, employees and business partners, Prof. Foth outlined today's growing importance of "Nano", not only
from the scientific view point, but also from the perspective of being confronted with Nanotechnology and
Nanotoxicology each and everyday. Although a clear definition of "Nano" is not very easy and the majority of people
still are not yet truly aware of this new scientific expression Prof. Foth stressed, "one should consider Nano, more
as a friend than a fiend", even including the possible risks of Nanotoxicology. Although, most of the applications
are within technology fields which are either limited or have no exposure to humans. "Nano" has already approached
everyone's daily life, being part of what we eat, what we wear and what we use. Indeed, those uses with very close
contact to the consumer need a responsible and careful assessment of risk.
We thank Prof. Foth for having taken the time to visit TSE Systems and for her exciting talk about the growing
importance of Nanotechnology.
