InfraMot - Activity System

The TSE InfraMot system is designed to register total activity of one or more animals by sensing the body-heat image, i.e. infrared radiation, and its spatial displacement over time. The system is especially suited for long-term circadian studies – a large number of PhenoMaster cages can be monitored with a single computer. The sensor assembly is designed to be mounted on top of a home cage but it can also be configured for any other arena such as an operant cage.

The wide-angle infrared detector allows the incorporation of rearing events into the locomotor activity data. Movements with the duration of only a few milliseconds can be reliably detected. The sensor units allow easy removal for cleaning. As an integral part of our modular PhenoMaster / LabMaster research platform, the InfraMot units can also be combined with the measurement of numerous physiological and behavioral parameters such as liquid & food consumption, wheel running behavior or / and metabolic performance.
