How to research cognition and behavior of mice living in a social environment
Two scientific experts Dr. Holger Russig (TSE Systems) and Dr. Vootele Voikar (Laboratory Animal Center Helsinki Institute of Life Science) explain in their presentation the importance of the IntelliCage’s group-housed design for high throughput investigation of cognitive abilities in mice and rats.
The IntelliCage is a fully automated system that allows preclinical researchers to investigate the home cage behavior and cognitive performance of up to 16 individual mice or eight rats separately while they are living in a social environment. This unique cognitive-behavioral experimental paradigm helps researchers evaluate associate learning difficulties and conditioning responses, classified in neurodegenerative pathologies like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Autism, Depression and more.
