Large Animal Calorimetry

Indirect Calorimetry System for Large Animals

  • Respiratory Chamber for Large Animals

The accurate measurement of oxygen consumption and carbon dioxide production in large animals such as pigs, sheep, cattle or horses can be challenging because of high flow rates, large chamber sizes, and high concentrations of water vapor and metabolite gases such as ammonia and hydrogen sulfide. Our indirect calorimetry system for large animals offers a perfect solution by using the newest technology from our room calorimeter system. This is complemented by easy-to-clean animal boxes that can be combined if a larger floor space is required. The animal boxes can be equipped with automatic feed intake monitors and come with a safety monitor that automatically opens the boxes in case of high concentration levels of CO2, NH3, H2S or power failure.
